Holiday Summary

Wow.  3 weeks since my last post.  Sometimes I can get really bad at posting.

For the last 2 weeks, I have been on holidays.  Hubby and I went to PEI with My Brother-in-law, his girlfriend, and the 2 kids.  Unfortunately we didnt' get to travel around the island as I wanted to, but stayed around Cavendish.  I was there around 20 years ago, and wow has it become commercial!

We camped at a really nice campground called Marco Polo Land.  I also went hoping to enjoy my first Lobster.  I didn't like it, but hubby said it was over-cooked.  I had hoped to go to a really awesome place in New Rustico, but the plans were changed.  Don't get me started on that..... I might start to rant lol

So instead, I will provide some pics of my time there

Green Gables
The original Green Gables House that inspired LM Montgomery.
House is now decorated per book.

Top of the stars - Anne's Room
Dress Mathew gave her...puffed sleves

The slate the broke over Gil's head

What is left of the house LM Montgomery actually grew up in
It was her grandparents house.
Worth the $4 to walk the grounds IMO

Cavendish Beach

MacNeils Pond - Lake of shinning waters

Cavendish Beach

Dunes on beach

I did visit a few other places in Cavendish including The Village of Avonlea, and Sandspit Amusement Park.
On the way home, Hubby and I made a short stopover in Quebec City.  Of the entire trip, I think Quebec City was the best....for many reasons.

One of the gates

The driver and horse that did your tour - Phillip & Sunny
Not a cheap tour, but worth it.

Artists Alley

One of the cute little streets

The amazing restaurant we ate at.  Would recommend in an instant.

On our way home, we made the side trip to Ste-Ane-de-Beaupre.  One word... Beautiful.
I took some pictures of the church of the stations of the cross.  I will save those for another post.

On the stitching front, I have not stitched much since getting together with Dani & Rebecca.  I took stitching with me, but either didn't have time, or didn't feel like it.  I have stitched since I have returned, and will post some pics soon.

On a side note, I grew up thinking Quebec was full of rude and ignorant people.  This trip to Quebec was nothing, and I mean nothing like that.  These people are very friendly and kind.  I not once had an issue with the language bearier... I don't remember much french from High School.  If you have been wanting to visit this beautiful old city and are nervous... DON'T BE!  I would go back in a heart beat!!

Glad you had a wonderful time. We are heading out to PEI this Saturday. I can't wait. We have land out in Souris. That's on the extreme Northeast tip of the Island. I think we will take a day trip over to Cavendish though. We are planning to go to Sandspit as well. I'll be posting pics in a couple of weeks. I have two little girls, so I don't think I'll be stitching much on this vacation, but I might try.

Sounds like you had a great time. We were in PEI many years ago, we went camping with friends. We were in North Rustico. It rained 5 out of 7 days but we still had a great time. My hubby and I are orginally from The Eatern Townships in Quebec and you are correct the language is not usually a problem. We are aglephones both our families are from English and Scotttish backgrounds. It is the politicians and the news media that cause a lot of the problems between Quebec and the rest of Canada. I am glad you enjoyed Quebec City it is a beautiful city!

Sounds like a great time!
I remember when I went to Montreal and was so eager to practice my French, but everyone just talked to me in English and stopped me cold!
But way out in Jonquiere I got a lot more practice since people were more willing to take the time.

Looks like you had a wonderful vacation. I agree with you about lobster -- it just tastes like butter to me. My mom, however, loved it.
