February 2014 Wipocolypse

It's time for another Wipocolypse post. If you want more information on what that is, check out Measi's Blog

First the Stitchers question:
How many projects do you generally feel comfortable having in progress at a time? Tell us about your one-at-a-time or rotation habits!

I don't know the exact number I feel comfortable with, but I do know it would be less then I have. This year I moved a few WIP's to the UFO pile, the last one being bramble and the rose.

Since I have many on the go, I'm obviously not a one at a time stitcher. Lately I've been doing a weekly theme rotation I found on Facebook. I find this actually does help! I also use creative license to make a WIP fit in a theme if it's calling to me.

Okay now for my progress:

First up is Santa's Village
I finished Santa's house on February 2nd

On February 7th I started the AAN mystery SAL called Halloween Town
I'm using Stephs bewitched, and the called for DMC. I finished part 1 on the 9th

Next up for themes was my oldest WIP. I first pulled out bramble, but after a few hours it finally went to the UFO pile

After bramble, I pulled out my next oldest WIP which also happens to be a design by Ink Circles - Rosetta
Here is progress to last night

I think that is it for the month, according to my journal anyway!

January 2014 WIPocolypse

This year I am participating in WIPocolypse again.  I of course am very late for my first one!

This year Measi has a  list of topics to discuss for our WIPocolypse posts. I think this is a great idea!

January Topic: Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year.

My WIPS at the beginning of the year are:

HAED - Magic evening
Ink Circles - Bramble and Rose
Ink Circles - Rosetta
Aury TM - Snowy Christmas
Drawn Thread - Sampler Gameboard
Cross Stitch Collectible - Autumn Leaves
TW - Fortunate  Traveller
Butternut Road - Celtic Banner

You have noticed a couple missing from the list... they are now put aside as non-current WIP's.  I either want to re-start them, or am not happy with them at all.

I had 2 new starts on January 1st as well

Bent Creek's Stitching Row
CCN's Santa's Village

I also plan on doing the Lizzie Kate Jingles as my ornament a month.

As for goals, I plan to do monthly goals again.

WIPocolypse Sept 2013

It has been a long time since I have done a Wipocolypse... April to be exact

I'm not going to update everything, as I only have a few hours of stitching time this weekend. I did do a big update at the beginning if September though.

I will update you with Celtic Banner

This was where it was at last Wipocolypse

And this is where I am tonight

WIPocalypse April 2013

What a month!  I can't wait until April is over.  Tired of tax season of all the stresses it brings.

I have managed to stitch this month, which is my stress relief, so that is good :)

The theme for April 25 was:  Designer – Mirabilia, Style – Samplers, Colors – Blue and Orange

I was impressed with myself that I actually managed to work on my Mirabilia.  Not much, but hey something is better then nothing!

Sabrina - April 25'13
I also worked on the following this month

Lizzie Kate - ABC Christmas
April 25'13

Celtic Banner - April 25'13

HAED - April 25'13

Ink Circles Rosetta - April 25'13

March'13 WIPocolypse and Ornament SAL

Today is WIPocolypse day!

I think I did pretty good since last month.

First off I had a massive HAPPY DANCE!
Smaug before
HAPPY DANCE!!!
SMAUG IS DONE!!!
After Blair's dragon was done I began to give some love to some other WIP's.  Here are the other WIP's I worked on since the last report
Gigi's Belle Lettre's "B"

The Drawn Thread Gameboard

My Heaven and Earth - restarted for the 3rd or 4th time.
Think I finally am okay with the fabric!

Lizzie Kate's ABC Christmas
Now for the Ornament SAL update.  I did get an ornament done as well this month!
I went back to working on the Days of Christmas from Dragon Dreams.
Day 3 - 3 French Hens

Ornament SAL - Feb'13 and Themealicios Figural February

I'm a day late, but here it is
In keeping with the WIPocolypse them of white/red and the themealicios ornament theme of snowmen, I present to you my February ornament

Next month WIPocolypse and the Ornament Sal are on the same day so I will try and incorporate the green/yellow and/or springtime theme. Not sure if I can get the Themealicios one in since it will be 3D... But who knows
Also for Themealicios this month, the theme was figural February. I think Smaug will work for this and since that is mainly what I stitched it will have to!
Here is another look at the progress to date

The regular theme for next month is March Madness where you stitch something different each day. I won't be switching projects everyday until Smaug is done, but will try and fit a few other projects in!

WIPocalypse report for January 2013

It looks like another full moon, which means it is time for another WIPocalypse post.
If you don't know what it is all about, please check it out!
This year Measi has also added themes to add to the fun.  The theme for this month is:

Theme: Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year!

Well my name is Bonnie I am live in a small town east of Toronto, ON.  I have been stitching for quite a few years, but my passion have grown 10 fold since meeting a great group of ladies almost 5 years ago who are great enablers.  I also have been enabled by a great group on Facebook called the Superstar Serial Starters and Divine Disciplined Divas (SSS/DDD)

My WIP's at the beginning of the year are (and in no particular order):

As of today, I have only worked on Smaug and the Lizzie Kate

Christmas ABC @ January 26'13

Smaug @ January 26'13

This year I planned to do 2 new starts on January 1st.  I started the AAN Maple leaf with my stitching friends, and the Sampler Gameboard as a SAL with the SSS/DDD Board on Facebook.
The gameboard was started in the afternoon, but haven't managed to work on it much since then.

Sampler Gameboard @ January 6'13

I stayed up until midnight on new years to start the maple leaf.  It was a fun stitch and managed to finish it on January 14th.

AAN - Maple leaf
January 1-14 2013

My goals for the year at the moment are:

  • Finish Smaug - hopefully by the end of spring if not sooner

  • Start Belle's Letters (B) by GigiR on February 1st with the SSS/DDD Facebook group

  • Start Fortunate Traveller with Dani, Christin, and Beatrice on May 1st.

  • Stitch an ornament a month

  • Re-start my HAED (for the 3rd time) and try to get a page done.

  • Try to reduce the other WIP's I have going.

I do have a few other little finishes to share, but will wait until the Ornament SAL post at the end of the month :)

WIPocolypse Dec'12

Another month has come and gone... Where the heck did this month go? No wait where has this year gone??
I looked back to my November post and appears I haven't really done much other than the dragon this month.

Smaug - Blair's dragon before

Smaug after

The only other thing to share was my finish on Snow White. I finished it into a big ornament and it is currently on my door at work

I was also a bad girl this month and had a new start.
I will share that at another time :)
I have signed up for Wipocalypse for 2013. If you haven't already you should sign up! This year comes with optional themes as well! Here a link so you don't have to look it up http://measi.net/measiblog/2013-wipocalypse/2013-wipocalypse-faq/

Smaug update + 2013 SAL's

Blair's Stupid Dragon now has an official name.  After watching Part 1 of the Hobbit  I have decided to name it after the dragon the took over the lonely mountain.  When I first picked up this pattern (over 7 years ago) I reminded me of Lord of The Rings, but  didn't like the name Balrog (from the mines of Moria).  Since  the dragon is actually  a dragon and not a demon, I have decided that Smaug is a better name :)  It will still be known affectionately as "Blair's stupid dragon" but has a real first name.

Speaking of him, here is an update
Smaug @ Dec 23'12
I thought I would also mention some of the SAL's I intend to take part in next year.

Participated in last year

Description for Daffycat's site:
What is an ORT? ORT or ort ~ Capitalized, it stands for Old Ratty Threads. These are the cast-off thread ends a needleworker cuts away. These ends are often saved in clear jars as a decorative object. The word, "ort" does appear in the dictionary, meaning: a bit of something left over; usually concerning food.
Why would you save these and why on earth post a picture on your blog? Not everyone saves them. Some stitchers just toss them in the trash or let them decorate the sofa and floor. Sometimes this inadvertent decorating draws ire from those living with us. Saving these clippings in one place creates a random tangle of lovely colored thread. Posting a photo of this pile is "progress" of a sort and thus, the Totally Useless Stitch A Long was born.

From Measi's Blog:
In the first half of 2011, I made a completely off-the-cuff joking post (while undoubtedly rather bouncy on a combination of sugar and/or caffeine) that I was going to reserve 2012 to stitch as if the world was going to end and cut back some of my ever-increasing work in progress pile. I called it the WIpocalypse, playing on the Mayan Calendar “Apocalypse” that the world would end in December 2012. The play on words (apparently I was punnier than I thought I was) actually excited a LOT of other stitchers, and by the end of 2011, I had over 300 people who also expressed interest in joining “The WIPocalypse.” So here we are! Perhaps the name is now out of date for 2013, but hey, I like the name. It’s distinctive and easy to remember, right?

From Joysze's Blog:
International Hermit and Stitch Weekend takes place every 3rd weekend of each month. In our very busy and hectic lives, IHSW is a chance for us to squirrel some time away for ourselves and "Hermit and Stitch." It is a time set aside to take care of us and our love for stitching.

New for 2013

From Silverlotus's Blog:
Who doesn’t love stitching ornaments? Decorating Christmas trees, Halloween trees and even Easter trees with stitched ornaments is a great way to show off your work, and to give yourself a quick finish. And, of course, stitching with friends is much more fun than stitching alone.

From Heather's Blog: Note - this is the info for 2012... 2013 is coming per Heather :)
I've followed monthly themes in the past, just for fun and to help me make my way through my diverse and vast stack of stash and WIPs. You can dedicate the whole month to the theme, or a week during the month, or weekends, or whatever you want! Just come join us and have fun. We'll post on the last day of the month, to celebrate that month's successes and share plans for the coming month, then on the 15th to check in on progress! I'll host a Mr. Linky post on those days and you can link back to it.

Hope you all participate in at least one of these with me :)
