2020 updates - Week 8 - Tapestry, blackwork, and knitting

Monday, even though it was a provincial holiday, I still went to work for a few hours. It is amazing how much work you can get done without co-workers talking, the phone ringing, and client coming in.

Since all my other monthly goals have been finished (Except keeping up with the SAL which is weekly) I went back to Tapestry Monday night.

And here is where I was late Sunday afternoon

Not as much progress as I would have liked, but I also need to remember that work is getting busier.

The only other stitching I did this week was Part 8 of the Peppermint Purple SAL.
Still loving this SAL, and also love that its not a huge amount of stitching each week.

On the knitting front, I have been attempting a start on the Northeasterly blanket. For some reason I need to start things 50 million times before I'm either happy with it, for fully understand it. This was no different.
Thursday night I finally was happy with the start.

Since my knitting is going so slow lately, this blanket will be made up of leftovers and mini skeins that I pick up from local yarn shops or dyers.

2020 updates - Week 6

I have been trying to do my blog updates Sunday afternoons or evenings, but I had a massive headache.

I finally got a change to get caught up tonight.

Monday I worked on Tapestry for Ink Circles Monday

Wednesday is release day for the Peppermint Purple - A Year of Blackwork SAL. I got week 6 done as started work on the border.

Saturday I sat down to work on Words to live by, but the mess of my stitching area was BUGGING ME!!!
So, I cleaned it out, and then got to work on the border of Part 3.
I didn't get too far as Hubby and I spent a big part of the day together and then joined some friends for gaming. Day out included YUMMY Indian Food

Like I said, Sunday wasn't a great day, so no stitching to report.
Let hope this coming Sunday is MUCH MUCH BETTER!!

February 2019 update

This was another slow month due to many things, but mostly busy work schedule.

Stitching is up first, Knitting will be at the end.

STITCHING

Ornament
I managed to get my ornament done early this month. I picked JOY from Rovaris in the 2018 Just Cross Stitch ornament issue

Tapestry

This came out to play for a bit... but not much progress. I really want this one done!

The Red and The Black

I did make a bit of progress on this one from Prairie Moon. I am still enjoying this one and plan to pick it up again soon!

Feather SAL

I finally got my fabric and was able to start. I got the first feather done, and a large part of the outline. I am not horribly behind yet, and will hopefully catch up soon with most of the outlines done.

KNITTING

Grotine Shawl

I spotted this shawl when Song Bird Fibres shared it on Instagram stories. The proceeds from the sale of this pattern go directly to True North Aid which does practical support for Northern First Nations Communities. Caroline Dick (ElectricTree on IG) is the designer. Song Bird is also donating an extra bit if you use their yarn, which I AM!!

Retreat

During the long weekend in February I attended a knitting retreat just outside of Meaford Ontario. it was an AMAZING weekend with no stress. I worked on my red socks most of the time while there.

There were also a lot of finishes that weekend... including a knitting puzzle!

I will go with these ladies again in a heartbeat!!

Red Harbour Socks

I got a lot of progress done on my socks at retreat, and managed to get them done on the 22nd. I used my usual vanilla sock pattern, but added the Petty Harbour pattern for texture. i was also VERY happy with how the heel went!

Sockhead hat

After getting my sockhead cowl done, I started on my matching hat.. I am doing both in Beach Glass from Lizzie Ann Yarns. There will also be matching socks at some point :)

September 2018 update

I reduced my plans in September to try and get back on track. I have come to realize the success I had for the first 6 months is just not going to happen at the moment. I have come to be be okay with it though... as many things have changed.

Lets see how I did do in September:

1) Ornament a month - KINDA

I wanted to get caught up with ornaments, but that didn't happen
I did get ONE down however, so I'm happy with that... especially since I even finished it!

Polar Bear Ornament - Durene Jones

2) Year in Chalk - YES

This is something I have been able to keep up with ! October was done early into the month. It still needs to be ironed and laced.

3) Dutch Tile SAL - YES

I managed to get the 6th part done, and am working on the first tile on the 7th. I call this a win

4) WIP - NO

I really only stuck to the items above, so no other WIPS were really worked on. I did pull out Canada sampler for a bit, but it didn't hold my attention.

KNITTING
I have been doing some knitting as well this month. I actually finished my first pair of socks on the 30th! I can't wait to cast on my 2nd pair :)

I also participated in the charity KAL at my local store, and did a knitted knocker. This was the first time using DPN's.... not a fan.... not a fan.

I also have 2 shawls on the go... the ardent and the hitchhiker beyond.

July 2018 plans

HELLO JULY

1) ORNAMENT A MONTH

This month I am picking one of the carolers from Christmas Chorus in Cross Stitch Favourites from a while back. This is designed from Durene Jones.

2) YEAR IN CHALK

August is up next

3) LONG DOG SAL - Long Dog Samplers Mystery - Sneek

Start and finish Part 5

4) FOCUS WIP

This month is time to show Canada Sampler some much needed love, and I thought this was the perfect month to do that.
I will also try and get at least one more cactus done on the Prickly but Cute SAL

5) NEW START

The new Peppermint Purple Dutch tile blackwork SAL has started. I would like to try to actually keep up with this one. Since it is smallish, this shouldn't be an issue!

6) INK CIRCLES MONDAY

Every Monday give an ink circles pattern at least a little love.

June 2018 plans update

Week 23 - ornaments, ikea, and buskers

Monday and Wednesday I worked on and finished my June ornament.

No stitching on Tuesday, and I travelled to Whitby to the closest Ikea Pick up point. Unfortunately, the closest store is over an hour away.
I have been wanting to get some Kallax units for the living room for a while. I finally saved some money, and then I needed new glasses...
So I managed to do it again and jumped on it, before something else came up.
Once my stitching area is all set up again, I will share pics

Thursday I worked on my Blackwork Tangram again. Wasn't that done you are asking?... well yes, but I decided to add a border to it

Saturday was the annual Busker Festival in my town. I spent a few hours taking it all in. It was also World Wide Knit in Public Day, so I joined in while I people watched.
Saturday afternoon I went to visit a friend, Kathy. While there I worked on my July Year in Chalk.

Sunday, after my 2nd knitting class, I continued to work on July year in Chalk.. It was a slow day, but am almost done!

Week 22 - A couple of finishes

Monday and Tuesday I worked on Ink Circles' Tapestry.
Here is where it eventually ended up for the month. It is now back into the WIP pile, but will be at least partial focus WIP in June

Wednesday I decided it was time to bit the bullet and finally decide on colours for my aunt's wedding sampler. I knew the pattern and work colours, but that was all.
I worked on this for the rest of the week, except for Friday night, and managed to get it finished!
I just have to iron and take it in for framing.

Friday I felt like working on something other than wedding row, so I started and finished the 6th part to the Blackwork Tangram.

I really enjoyed this, and will be doing the Dutch tiles. I also picked up a couple of patterns from her Etsy page. I can see me starting the tea cups in the near future.
