June 2019 Upate

This month doesn't even seem blog worthy... except for the first pic!

STITCHING

  • June 8 - Trista picked up my Fairy Alighting at the framers for me.  SOOOOOO happy with how this one turned out!  The fabric is from Hand Dyed by Stephanie.

  • WIP Progress - I seemed to have only focused on the red and the black this month, and of course I didn't take a full progress pic... so here is just one of the area

Week 13 - A Fairy gets her wings

This week I wanted to keep focusing on Fairy and get the leaf done.
Here is where you last saw her

I managed to get the leaf done on Tuesday night

Wednesday night I stayed up a little later than planned to get the wings done.

Some sparkle in the wings thanks to Petite treasure braid

Thursday night saw the start to the Fairy dust (aka beads).  Very early Sunday morning I finished the beads, and added my signature.

May I present to you, Fairy Alighting in all her glory

Week 12 - Without light, there would be no shadow

This week was all about Fairy Alighting.

I pulled her out at retreat last weekend, and other than a bit of stitching on my travel project (while waiting for an oil change) I have stuck with her.

This is where you say her the last time:

I had a great day of stitching on my one day off this week (Sunday), where the only time I left the house was to grab something from the car, and switch cars with my husband.
Here is after:

I have a busy week coming up, and even though most people have at least one day off with Good Friday, I work it every year.  You would not believe the work I get done!  Very few clients call or stop in.  I am hoping I can get the leaf done by the end of the month... shouldn't be too hard if I can get even an hour a night to stitch.
Whatever your plans are for the weekend, if you celebrate Easter or not, have a great one!

March 2018 Plans

Here are my plans for the month of March

1) ORNAMENT A MONTH
  • Continue a start and finish on one part of the newest Tiny Tidings (xxii)
  • I think I also have a plan for after the 5 are done... but more on that later...
2) YEAR IN CHALK
  • Start and Finish April
3) FOCUS WIP
  • Continue working on Cirque des Coeur (Ink Circles) - I should be able to get this one done in March!
4) SAL - Long Dog Samplers Mystery - Sneek
  • Start and finish Part 1 (currently one part behind)
5) NEW START
  • At March retreat, I will FINALLY be starting Death by Cross Stitch! Dani and I are starting together, as both of us have finished our BAP's :)
6) 2nd FOCUS WIP
  • Fairy Alighting is on deck to become the focus piece once cirque is done

With work getting busier, this might be more of a challenge... but if I stitch a bit every day I should be good. The only plan I don't see getting finished is #4 - the SAL.  But if I don't finish part 1 its not a huge deal... I will just work on the rest of it in April with part 2.  I just don't' want to get toooo far behind :)

2018 Plans

Can you believe we are in the final few days of 2017!
2017 has gone by incredibly fast... especially the past few months

January 1st start
On January 1st most years I do a new start with at least a few friends.  Some years there are more of us, and some years just a few.
This year I am starting Dragons of Sumatra from Ink Circles with at least 4 of them (I honestly can't
remember who all is starting)
Dragons of Sumatra - Ink Circles

I plan to stitch it on 32ct white with a Silks4U that I got custom dyed.
Hank of Silk from Silks4U

Year In Chalk
Something else I am doing is one of the Year in Chalk per month.  I had started January in the hopes that I can be a month ahead, get it stitched and finished to display in the month.  I think I have talked my good friend Becca to do this with me throughout the year.
I am doing these on 32ct  slate from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie with the called for chalk thread from Sampler Threads.  I will be using other over dyes for the highlight colours, but I am trying to pull from my stash where possible since they don't use a whole skein.
A Year in Chalk - Hands on Design

Critters
Another friend, Kathy,  has been "bugging" me about my Just Nan critters.  I have a TON of them, and they are just sitting in the packages waiting for some love.  I have only stitched 2 of them and neither are assembled.  I have decided to TRY and do a month as well.
Just Nan - Little Princess Snow

Death By Cross Stitch
Something else I have been DYING to start is Death by Cross Stitch from Long Dog Samplers.  Dani and I have decided once we both got our BAP's done we are starting.  I have finished my Leaves, and now Dani just has to finish her Big Red.  If you want to watch her poppy grow, check our her Instagram account.  I'm bbrown426 on Instagram by the way :)
Death By Cross Stitch - Long Dog Samplers
I plan to do mine on 32ct white lugana with DMC 154, which I was lucky enough to get entire cone of.
DMC - 154
WIPS
I also have the following WIP's left over to carry into 2018
Cirque des Coeurs - Ink Circles
Canada Sampler - Stitchrovia
Tapestry - Ink Circles
Fairy Alighting - X's and O's
Coffee Quaker - Heartstring Samplery

What are your plans for 2018!

2017 Week 51&52 - the final update

This will be my final weekly update of 2017.
How crazy is that!!!

I got a bit more on Fairy Alighting done.

This week I also started Year in Chalk - January from Hands on Design.  I'm using Hand Dyed by Stephanie's Slate (32ct linen)

 And I finished January!

For the past few years, my friend Rebecca and I have done a new start (cause who can wait until January 1st all the time). This year we decided to pull another friend, Trista, into the crazy with us.  All three of us wanted to start Coffee Quaker, so it was an easy decision.
I'm doing Coffee Quaker on Steph's Vanilla Latte with the called for over dyed threads.

I will be working on Coffee Quaker until the 1st when I start Dragons of Sumatra.

Cirque Des Coeurs, after
Next I work on my Fairy Alighting which I also worked on over International Hermit and Stitch Weekend
Fairy Alighting - the last time you saw her

Fairy Alighting - After the weekend
Plans for the upcoming week include more ICM (maybe tapestry will appear again) and Fairy.
I also have plans to start the January Year in Chalk!  Friday night is another hockey game, and Saturday is Christmas at my mom's... so not sure what the progress will be like.

2017 Week 48 &49 - an Autumn Surprise

Well what do they say about plans....
I am behind again, so doing 3 weeks in one.

The last time I posted, I was working on Touching the Autumn Sky with the thought that one more finish in 2017 would be awesome.
