2020 updates - Week 8 - Tapestry, blackwork, and knitting

Monday, even though it was a provincial holiday, I still went to work for a few hours.  It is amazing how much work you can get done without co-workers talking, the phone ringing, and client coming in.

Since all my other monthly goals have been finished (Except keeping up with the SAL which is weekly) I went back to Tapestry Monday night.

This is where Tapestry started on Monday

And here is where I was late Sunday afternoon

Not as much progress as I would have liked, but I also need to remember that work is getting busier.

The only other stitching I did this week was Part 8 of the Peppermint Purple SAL.
Still loving this SAL, and also love that its not a huge amount of stitching each week.
Current Week

Progress to date

On the knitting front, I have been attempting a start on the Northeasterly blanket.  For some reason I need to start things 50 million times before I'm either happy with it, for fully understand it.  This was no different.
Thursday night I finally was happy with the start.
Since my knitting is going so slow lately, this blanket will be made up of leftovers and mini skeins that I pick up from local yarn shops or dyers.

Hope everyone had a great week, and here is to the last week of February... Hopefully March brings some sun!

2020 updates - Week 5 - Tapestry, blackwork, and socks!

Some of this will be a repeat of the January check-in, but still wanted to keep my weekly posts

This week had a bit of everything.  It started with a bit of a panic to find yarn for a sock class on Saturday.  I needed 2 coordinating colours... Now I have a bunch of sock yarn... but most is multi-colour or self striping.  I wouldn't have been able to get to my LYS (Yarn it!) until Thursday night, and worried this wouldn't give me enough time to get a toe done for the class.  Thankfully I found something I think will work well, and managed to also get 1/2 the toe done... all on Monday night.
These are the colours I finally choose.
That bag at the back is new.. .isn't is the cutest! Check out Gail's etsy page to get your own

Wednesday is the release of the weekly Peppermint Purple - A Year of Blackwork SAL part.  I had to go to a clients today, so couldn't finish all in the morning, but managed to finished Wednesday night.  I am all caught up on this, and will hopefully start my border in February.

Thursday and Friday saw a bit more work on Tapestry.

I am going to try my hardest to stick with this until I get a finish!  It will return as soon as my top February Goals are done

Speaking of February, Saturday morning before my sock class I started my monthly ornament.
This month was Christmas Bullfinch from the JCS 2019 ornament issue.

After the ornament was finished Sunday morning, I pulled out Words to live by from The Tiny Modernist.
Not much progress, but a bit done on the border

Hope everyone had a great week... and who else is glad the grayness of January is over!!!

Week 3 of 2020 is now history

You last saw this during my WIP Parade
Before

I finished Part 2 on Saturday night
Part 2 Done

On Wednesday I got up a bit early to pump out Week 3 on the Peppermint Purple  A Year of Blackwork SAL.  I got it done early that evening

Sunday morning I decided to pull out Tapestry (one of my oldest WIPS)
This is where I was from the WIP Parade

A bit of progress was made

KNITTING
This week I also started the Everyday Shawl from Andrea Mowry.
Everyday Shawl - Drea Renee Knits
I attempted it late last year, but wasn't happy with the way it looked with the yarn I had picked.  I changed yarn and am much happier.

This is my small progress to date

July 2019 update

STITCHING

  • When Long Dog released The templars Prophecy, I knew I just had to have it (which I bought that day) and start it.  I managed to talk Christin (like it was hard LOL) to start with me.  A trip to our LNS when she was down on the long weekend, and we started on first of July!  Here is where I got to by the end of July... almost a page finish.  I also think this was all I worked on all month.

KNITTING
  • Started another pair of socks

April 2019 update

My update continues.  As you will see, April wasn't a productive month!

APRIL 2019

STITCHING

Magic Mini Monsters
Trying to get out of my lack of stitching, I started yet another project.

I saw people posting this online, and thought it looked fun!
I managed to get the title part done.

OTHER
Since I wasn't working in an accounting firm this tax season, Blair and decided to go to the ROM for my birthday.  Since its as the end of the month, I RARELY do anything for my birthday.  It was a great day out, and very lucky to have him in my life.

FRAMING
I did get a chance to drop off 2 pieces to the framers in April.  I will be sharing these with you in my May and June updates!

KNITTING
I had worked on my blue socks this month.  Not much to show, but the colour on these is amazing

Yarn Crawl
My friend Trista and I did get to start the yarn crawl this month... another yay to not working Saturdays in April this year.  No real pictures to show but I enjoyed our day out!

March 2019 update

The first part of 2019 hasn't been the best for me.
Things have started to turn around, and hopefully I can update you all soon!

In the meantime, I will try and an update on what I have (and haven't) been doing.

Ornament
I did manage to stitch on an ornament in March, thanks to Christin for kitting and bringing to retreat!

Ink Circles - Sherbert Flake
The Red and the Black
I worked on the Prairie Moon pattern during the March retreat.

Death by Cross Stitch
Death by cross stitch from Long dog got a tiny bit of progress

Feather SAL
I also got the outlines on the feathers done on the Peppermint Purple SAL done this month

Zen Garden
While at retreat, I say many people working on full coverage pieces.  It reminded me I was gifted a beautiful Heaven and Earth from my amazing friend Emily.  When I came home, I had to start it!  Thankfully I had a piece of 40ct of fabric that was the correct size.
Zen Garden - HAED
Here is my progress during March

KNITTING

Socks
I finished my Red Harbour Socks

February 2019 update

This was another slow month due to many things, but mostly busy work schedule.

Stitching is up first, Knitting will be at the end.

STITCHING

Ornament
I managed to get my ornament done early this month.  I picked JOY from Rovaris in the 2018 Just Cross Stitch ornament issue

Tapestry
This came out to play for a bit... but not much progress.  I really want this one done!

The Red and The Black
I did make a bit of progress on this one from Prairie Moon.  I am still enjoying this one and plan to pick it up again soon!

Feather SAL
I finally got my fabric and was able to start.  I got the first feather done, and a large part of the outline.  I am not horribly behind yet, and will hopefully catch up soon with most of the outlines done.

KNITTING

Grotine Shawl
I spotted this shawl when Song Bird Fibres shared it on Instagram stories.  The proceeds from the sale of this pattern go directly to True North Aid which does practical support for Northern First Nations Communities.  Caroline Dick (ElectricTree on IG) is the designer.  Song Bird is also donating  an extra bit if you use their yarn, which I AM!!

Retreat
During the long weekend in February I attended a knitting retreat just outside of Meaford Ontario.  it was an AMAZING weekend with no stress.  I worked on my red socks most of the time while there.
There were also a lot of finishes that weekend... including a knitting puzzle!

I will go with these  ladies again in a heartbeat!!

Red Harbour Socks
I got a lot of progress done on my socks at retreat, and managed to get them done on the 22nd.  I used my usual vanilla sock pattern, but added the Petty Harbour pattern for texture.  i was also VERY happy with how the heel went!

Sockhead hat
After getting my sockhead cowl done, I started on my matching hat.. I am doing both in Beach Glass from Lizzie Ann Yarns.  There will also be matching socks at some point :)
Here is my cowl for reference:
Here is where i have gotten to on the hat:
