Happy Dance!!

Yes!!  I did a happy dance before bed last night

PARADIGM LOST IS DONE!!

Paradigm Lost (Long Dog Samplers)
Finished April 17, 2011

Other than work keeping me busy I also have finished 2 more scissor fobs

I haven't done one in awhile, but the Photohunt for this week is "Road" - #261
This picture was taken on my honeymoon in Haliburton, Ontario.
I would have loved to have returned to this location someday, but unfortunately the resort was sold and is not privatetly owned cottages.  'Tis life isn't it.

I haven't decided which of my many WIP's is going to be my main focus.  I have a feeling I won't be able to get much accomplished in the next few weeks.  Hopefully I can spend May doing lots of stitching before I start a new course in June.
Have a great stitchy week!

Spring retreat and a lesson

This weekend I attended the Knowledge and Needles annual spring retreat.
Christin arrived around noon on Thursday and hung out with "the boys" while I was at work.
Friday morning we went for breakfast with Blair, dropped him off at work, did a little antiquing in Cobourg, and then we were on our way to the retreat.

We arrived just after noon and there was a few others already there.  We got all our stuff set up and had a quick lunch, then settle in to a weekend of stitching, eating (not much by me this time) , chatting, and some sleep thrown in there too.

On saturday we headed out to Knowledge and Needles for lunch and some retail therepy.  I did not purchase any stash as I spend my retreat budget the week before at K&N open house.

Speaking of which, I visited with Beatrice last weekend and both of us went to the open house together.  It was a great afternoon and evening!

Today, before we left retreat, Christin fixed the scissor fob she made me last year and then her and Dani explained how to make beaded scissor fobs and went through what I needed to make my own.  After reatreat I drove 20 minutes out of my way and stopped at Micheals in Belleville and picked up a few things I needed.  Thanks to a 40% discount and a gift card from my mommy, I got the basics of what I needed.  When I arrived home, I unpacked the car and got to work on my first beaded fob.  I AM HOOCKED!!!
After my first one I started a second one.  Here is a pic of the two I made.  The scissors where both gifts from great stitching friends
Top - Dovo scissors from Christin and Dani
There is a D & C in the beads, and the charm is the chinese symbol for friendship
Bottom - From Kathy
Haven't found the right charm for these yet, but at the moment a dragon is attached.

As for stitching, I worked on Paradigm Lost all weekend... and was very proud of myelf for that.  I didn't have time to take a picture yet, other than a during pic, but hopefully will update this week.
Here is the pic I posted on facebook while I was stitching

Paradigm not so Lost

It is has been just over 2 weeks since I blogged last.  My bad

Work, and my course has kept me pretty busy

Last weekend hubby and I got to attend another SENS game, and we got to spend a few hours in Ottawa this time.  We checked out the mall downtown (too cold to check out winterlude) and then met Christin  for lunch.

When I haven't been studying I have been concentrating on Paradigm Lost.  I can't believe how well this one is coming along!  I was hoping to have it done by March Retreat, but don't think that is going to happen.  The next 2 weeks I have an exam to study for.

Here is a before and after pic of Paradigm Lost

Update and a surprise!

Today was an okay day.. I woke up tried and grouchy.  Then I had to drive to a Clients aprox 35 mintues away.  While there I started to get out of my grouchy mood, as I knew an appointment at at Hair Salon was awaiting me when I got home.  You see the hair sylist who did my hair back in November left the Salon and I just found her last week :)

Nature decided to call so instead of just kicking the hubby out I had to actually stop the car.  I decided to grab the mail instead of waiting until I came home and inside that mailbox... A SURPRISE!!

Oh my... what did my dear friend Kathy send me??

Ahhhhh... cute card!  What could be inside?

OMG!!!  Wow :)

My new lovely scissors at home in my scissor frog

Now for the update
For some reason Paradigm Lost has been totally calling me.  It is the only project I have been working on lately.  Here is an update from last night.

Post retreat update

This past weekend I attended the Knowledge and Needles First annual Winter Retreat.  For pics check out Dani's blog... I didn't get around to taking many pics.

On the weekend, for some reason I couldn't stay on one project.
Below are my progress pics.  I also worked on Blair's dragon, but not enough to show a new pic.

I really need to start concentrating more on one project.  I don't feel like I am getting anything done...especially since my time is more precious now.  Oh well... I will figure it out :)

My Final update of 2010 and a bittersweet goodbye

Can you believe it is December 31st!!

This morning I took pics of all my main WIP's that I have worked on over the past few months.
I also took a pic of my ORT container.  I had hoped to do some stitching today

The Bramble and Rose - Ink Circles

Paradigm Lost - Long Dog

Cirques de Carreaux - Ink Circles

Magnificant Wizard - Dimensions
Colourful Orts - December 31, 2010

I also was given the opportunity to work on Beatrice's Mirabillia Round Robin.  Here is a pic of my part "Sabrina" and the RR so far.  I am totally in love with Sabrina and can't wait to start her.

Tomorrow I am going to start Cirques des Cercles by Ink Circles with Christin.  I can't wait to start it!!

This post has taken me almost all day to actually post - I have been busy tidying the house, doing some errands etc.  This afternoon while I was about to finish I noticed a post on my Facebook wall.  The puppy I puppy-sat a few months was headed to his new forever home TODAY!!  It turns out he is not breading material and will not be going to Peru after all.  His new name is Bulllovers Green Hornet - Kato.  So I hopped on the 401 going 130 just to try and get to the store in time to say good bye.  Am I ever glad I went... I did get there just in time!  I am very happy to see my little guy go to a good home, but very sad I won't see him everyday anymore.  Grow up to be an amazing boy Kato!!

Stitching update

I have been doing some stitching the past few weeks.  Not as much as I would like, but something is better than nothing

Not sure how far I have gotten on these, but will post my main WIP's as they stand at this moment.

DMC Magnificant Wizard
AKA "Blair's stupid dragon"

 IC Bramble and Rose

IC Cirque des Carreaux

LD Paradigm Lost

Well it is still raining in my neck of the woods.  As much as I don't like snow, a little would be better than all this rain.  Is it too much to ask of Mother nature to give us some freaking sunshine!!

In 19 Days I am going to have a new start.  Christin and I are doing Cirque des Cercles as a SAL (there may be another too).  I can't wait to start as I think the colours I have choosen are going to look stunning!
Well I better get to "Blair's stupid dragon" as I have a busy week coming up and not sure how much stitching I will get done.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Stitching update + use your common sense! ;) (Nov4)

Well according to the website I get crazy holidays from, I have 3 choices for today:

Use Your Common Sense Day

Today would have been a good day for me to use the common sense one, but in order to save my marriage, I will choose not to... LONG STORY!!!  I will however share a couple of pictures with you (taken from another blog).  Hopefully all of you have more common sense than these people!

The other two don't really interest me, but ladies, if you can use it to get a night off from cooking dinner... USE IT! lol
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last night on the ride home from work, hubby mentioned that he wanted to spare in the local bar dart league.  We used to play for this league, but politics wrecked it for me.  I said fine, go ahead and play, but I'm talking the might off too, so don't expect the dishes put away, etc.  He said no problem.
After he left, I settled in for a night of TV and stitching on Paradigm Lost.  Well the TV was on, but not much stitching was done.  I was good and put the laptop away, but the iphone called to me for a bit.  I ended up playing angry birds more than stitching.  Oh well.  I did post a pic on my facebook before I started, but didn't take an after pic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well this morning at around 11:30am I am taking an hour off from work to get my hair done.  I have not had my hair cut in at least 2 months.  I am currently without a hairdresser and usually just go to the chain in Zellers for a hair cut.  A couple of weeks ago, my co-worker got a new hair cut and gave me her $20 off referral coupon.  I called the next day and booked with the same girl. I figure hey, the cut will now only cost me approx $15.

Here is the new do
I think I like it, - low maintenance and a little different

November 1st

So a little birdy told me today that this month is NaBloPoMo - or National Blog Posting Month.
At first I wasn't even THINKING that I could blog every day for a month... especially this month!  But then I joined the NaBloPoMo site and thought what the heck... If I don't do it... I don't do it.

So for the month of November, I am going to attempt to blog everyday.  Consider this your warning - it may be short & sweet, may only be a picture, and it might not be stitching related.  I will try my best however to make it interesting.  I may include some history, or a review of a tv show just to make things interesting.  One thing I will not do - post my CGA notes - I won't bore you with them!! :)

So for today, I actually have some stitching pics.
Below are some pics of Paradigm Lost as of last night.

YAH!! Finished Motif

So, I hope you will bare with me as I attempt to do the impossible (for me anyway)
Hope you all have a great week :)

An update.... FINALLY

So Dani sent me a message on Windows Live message the other day......

"UR blog is sad and lonely, it needs an update"
Well, I had a big assignment due today, but now it is done, so I will try and make my blog less lonely. Ok so now I have to figure out what I have done in almost a whole month! So I decided to go to the photos on the computer for a reminder

Sept 25'10
This day was an open house for the foundation I am on the board for. We are trying to open for the 2012 celebrations. We received a heritage grant to help us do this! If you are interested in more info, please see our website.
Here is a picture of the limestone building that has been named "the barracks" by the community

Right beside where I work is the Ganaraska River in Port Hope, or the Ganny as it is called. In the spring and fall it becomes flooded with fish making their way back up stream to lay eggs. I have always felt that these fish have something against me, because whenever I am told they are running, I never see them. On the 7th, my co-worker Kim told me to get out there and take a look, but to go down stream a bit... WOW!!! am I ever glad I did!! Do you ever feel sorry for these poor fish... very hard work!

HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!!!

My hubby and I got tickets for opening night of the Ottawa Senators. They played the Buffalo Sabres, who we saw play in April. Well they did loose, but It was a really great time. This time we got cheap tickets, but I thought they were great since you could see the whole ice.
GO SENS GO!!!

After the game, we stayed over at Dani's house.

Oct 9'10

Today I joined Dani to her WW meeting (all about thanksgiving dinner). We then picked up the boys (Blair and Todd) and went for breakfast. Then while the Boys played video games, Dani and I got to do some stitching. We also took an hour and went for a really nice block around the area where she lives.

She got some great pics, but here is one that I took
Cow corn

That night we enjoyed amazing Lasagne al la Dani.

Oct 10'10
Today was an early morning as we were still in the Ottawa area, and needed to be home to work on my first BIG assignment for my CGA course. We also stopped in Kingston to get some groceries from Costco.

The assignment took pretty much all day and it was another late night - bed after 11:30
Edit - I got my marks back today (Oct 23rd) ...... 42/50 - Not too bad :)

Oct 11'10
HAPPY TURKEY DAY CANADA!!

I stayed in my PJ's most of the day and did some stitching. Around 1pm we started on our way to Oshawa for dinner at my mother in law's. We had to take a detour (crazy 401 traffic) but managed to get there only about 15 minutes late. I did get to enjoy some time with my niece and nephew, but didn't take any pictures.

Oct 15th-17th
Friday night I made my way to Rebecca's for her annual stitchy weekend. I arrived just after 7pm and got my area all set up. Dani and Christin arrived soon after.

Saturday was a nice relaxing day of stitching. We were also joined by Kathy, Beatrice, and Barb.
Not really a stitching pic, but I loved Beatrices socks!!

On Sunday, I left around 1pm and we drove to Brighton for an open house for Adriana, Beatrice's 94 year old mom. She is an amazing stitcher, and had no idea how much she has actually done. We all want to grow up to be just like her

Oct 23'10
And we are finally at today!
