2017 Week 45 and 46 - exciting things and lots of leaves

This week (which i'm starting from November 1st) saw two very exciting things... one stitching and one non-stitching.

First, the non-stitching...
If you have looked at my Instagram account, you would know I am an Ottawa Senators Fan.  Last October it was announced that their farm team (AHL) was moving from up state New York to Belleville Ontario... 45 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE!!! Ottawa games are 3.5 hrs each way, so both Blair and I were VERY EXCITED.  We waiting until season ticket info was announced and I was actually the 2nd person to purchase.
November 1st saw the first home game this year.

Now, for the stitching related thing.
The first weekend in November is the fall retreat which takes place at the Timberhouse Resort in Brighton Ontario.  18 wonderful ladies take over the resort for the weekend, where we all proceed to do lots of stitching and catching up (ok... maybe only some stitching).
November retreat also has an ornament exchange.  This is the amazing work done this year.

This is the ornament I received, stitched by Barb

And this is the one I did - from this years JCS ornament issue

While at retreat, I worked exclusively on Autumn Leaves

I continued to work on Autumn Leaves for the rest of the week.
Progress to November 11
Getting close to a finish!

HOCKEY

Since dating, living with, and marrying Blair, I have become a bigger and bigger hockey fan.

Years ago, before I had a head on my shoulders (aka brain), I cheered for the yard waste.  Since being with Blair, I have turned to the Ottawa Senators and happy I did.

Over the past few years, Blair and I have attended some games in Ottawa.  Nothing like seeing an NHL game live..... oh ya... a Playoff game Live!!

Here are some pics from the past few games we attended

Are you a hockey fan?  What team do you cheer?  If not a hockey fan, any other pro sport team you cheer for?

Paradigm not so Lost

It is has been just over 2 weeks since I blogged last.  My bad

Work, and my course has kept me pretty busy

Last weekend hubby and I got to attend another SENS game, and we got to spend a few hours in Ottawa this time.  We checked out the mall downtown (too cold to check out winterlude) and then met Christin  for lunch.

When I haven't been studying I have been concentrating on Paradigm Lost.  I can't believe how well this one is coming along!  I was hoping to have it done by March Retreat, but don't think that is going to happen.  The next 2 weeks I have an exam to study for.

Here is a before and after pic of Paradigm Lost

An update.... FINALLY

So Dani sent me a message on Windows Live message the other day......

"UR blog is sad and lonely, it needs an update"
Well, I had a big assignment due today, but now it is done, so I will try and make my blog less lonely. Ok so now I have to figure out what I have done in almost a whole month! So I decided to go to the photos on the computer for a reminder

This day was an open house for the foundation I am on the board for. We are trying to open for the 2012 celebrations. We received a heritage grant to help us do this! If you are interested in more info, please see our website.

Right beside where I work is the Ganaraska River in Port Hope, or the Ganny as it is called. In the spring and fall it becomes flooded with fish making their way back up stream to lay eggs. I have always felt that these fish have something against me, because whenever I am told they are running, I never see them. On the 7th, my co-worker Kim told me to get out there and take a look, but to go down stream a bit... WOW!!! am I ever glad I did!! Do you ever feel sorry for these poor fish... very hard work!

HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!!!

My hubby and I got tickets for opening night of the Ottawa Senators. They played the Buffalo Sabres, who we saw play in April. Well they did loose, but It was a really great time. This time we got cheap tickets, but I thought they were great since you could see the whole ice.
GO SENS GO!!!

After the game, we stayed over at Dani's house.

Oct 9'10

Today I joined Dani to her WW meeting (all about thanksgiving dinner). We then picked up the boys (Blair and Todd) and went for breakfast. Then while the Boys played video games, Dani and I got to do some stitching. We also took an hour and went for a really nice block around the area where she lives.

She got some great pics, but here is one that I took
Cow corn

That night we enjoyed amazing Lasagne al la Dani.

Today was an early morning as we were still in the Ottawa area, and needed to be home to work on my first BIG assignment for my CGA course. We also stopped in Kingston to get some groceries from Costco.

The assignment took pretty much all day and it was another late night - bed after 11:30
Edit - I got my marks back today (Oct 23rd) ...... 42/50 - Not too bad :)

HAPPY TURKEY DAY CANADA!!

I stayed in my PJ's most of the day and did some stitching. Around 1pm we started on our way to Oshawa for dinner at my mother in law's. We had to take a detour (crazy 401 traffic) but managed to get there only about 15 minutes late. I did get to enjoy some time with my niece and nephew, but didn't take any pictures.

Oct 15th-17th
Friday night I made my way to Rebecca's for her annual stitchy weekend. I arrived just after 7pm and got my area all set up. Dani and Christin arrived soon after.

Saturday was a nice relaxing day of stitching. We were also joined by Kathy, Beatrice, and Barb.
Not really a stitching pic, but I loved Beatrices socks!!

On Sunday, I left around 1pm and we drove to Brighton for an open house for Adriana, Beatrice's 94 year old mom. She is an amazing stitcher, and had no idea how much she has actually done. We all want to grow up to be just like her

TUSAL and ICK

I realized today that I have missed the March and April TUSAL updates.
Don't have a pic of march but since I am only 1 day late for April I took a pic.

That is about it on the stitching front.

Saturday night I got to do something I have wanted to do for a long time... attend a NHL game.  Bonus was it was the Ottawa Senators, who hubby and I cheer for.  It was an extra special night since they were celebrating Alfreddson's 1000th game.   It was a good game, but unfortunately they lost.
We then went to Dan'i house to stay the night and joined them for breakfast on Sunday morning.
I did manage to get a little bit of stitching done at her house on the Sunday.
All in all... a great weekend.

An overdue update

Wow how time flies!  I can't believe it has been since March 26th since I last posted!

Work has been keeping me busy... I work for an Accounting Firm and Canadian Taxes are due April 30th.
Working extra hours at night and working Saturdays has been eating into my stitching time.

On a good note though, I am finally feeling 100% better...FINALLY!  Yes I finally broke down and went to my Doctors.  After 2 Emerg visits and still not better, I figured it was better to bite the bullet and take the few hours off from work do it.  I really like my Doctor and he is about 45 mintues away.  He put me on a strong Antibotic for 14 days.  Sounds like whenever I was starting to feel better, someone else shared there bug with me and I got sick again.  I think I will have to start to build up my immune system in January next year so this doesn't happen again!

I have been doing some stitching in between work.  I did manage to finish a small ornament using crushed walnut shells as recommended by Dani.  I will post a picture soon.  I have also been working on my Kaleidoscope by Ink Circles.  I am currently on page 3 of doing the black.  I figured with not being able to stitch for long periods of time I would stitch all the black first.

I have been counting down on facebook and windows live for the past week (or a little longer)... well the sleeps are finally up and tonight I get to join Hubby at our first NHL game.  We are driving up to Ottawa (3hrs aprox) to see the Senators vs. Buffalo.  We borrowed an extra jersey and both of us have older sens hats in case there is a hat trick.  Can you tell i'm excited??? lol.  Tonight is also the celebration of Alfredson's 1000th game as a SEN and everyone in attendance will be given a free T-shirt.  Cool EH!
I am taking my new camera with me and hope to get some awesome pics tonight... or at least of my hubby and I decked all out in our SENS gear.

Hope you all have an great weekend!!
