Not much stitching, but a little stash

This has been a long week of module review for my course.  Today was a comprehensive review before practice exams start tomorrow.  I did have yesterday (Saturday) off and it was perfect since it coincided with the Knowledge and Needles Nashville open house.  First though I had to head to the Campbellford Legion to play darts with my hubby, my MIL, and another dart friend.  Unfortunately we didn't get to go on.  This did mean I could head to K&N quicker though.

I was greeted by Ann and then followed the laughter to find Christin, Tracey, Dani, and Sharon all stitching away.  I did a quick look at the new goodies and went back my car and grabbed my stitching bag.  I pulled my 4 seasons out, but didn't really get much done.  Beatrice also stopped in and although she didn't bring her stitching, she stayed around and chatted with us.

I ended up getting some nice patterns.  I had a crazy headache (stupid PA system at legion was malfunctiing)  and didn't feel like looking through fabric like I wanted to.
Below are the new pattens I got (pics stolen from net)
Ink Circles - Rosetta

Ink Circles - Nut Jobs

Ink Circles - Wild Berries

Ink Circles - Metamorphosis

JBW - French Country Strawberry
After we all settle up with Ann, the 5 of us (Dani, Christin, Beatrice, Tracey, and I) decided to go to the newly opened Lone-star for Dinner.  I guess a ton of other people also had that idea and it was going to be an eighty minute wait.  I DON"T THINK SO!  We decided to do Montana's instead.
After, at Dani's suggestion we split a Mile High mud pie. I had not tried this desert before, and I will have to say it was VERY GOOD.  Don't believe me?  Just look!

Well, back to review!  Other than my WIPocalypse check in this week, I don't think I will be posting until after my exam on Friday.  Have a great week everyone!

Small finish and a small update

I have been very bad at blogging lately!I went over my pics and am going to post a few catch ups over the rest of the week.
Please bear with me!

On a board on facebook, a group of ladies was talking about this thread called sulky blendables.  Sounded interesting and thought I would check it out.  There was a fabric store beside a clients in Whitby, and one day when I was there, I looked and found some.

I didn't know what I should do with it, but decided to do a JBW using it.
I liked the way it turned out.

I also have an update on Cirque des Carreux.  Sorry about the angle, but it is the best pic.

Part 2 on the way....

A frog, an open house, and a finish

While at Rebecca's a few weeks ago I realized that I had two different dye lots for Cirque des Carreux!  I contacted Ann at Knowlege and Needles.  She said she had 6 skeins of Carries Autumn Leaves and would put them aside for me.  If it was one type I would have to frog about 1/3 out of what I had done.  If it was the other, I might as well start over.  Was I ever happy to see that she had the right ones I needed!!  On sunday, I frogged while I listened to a lecture.

What was left of CdCx after the frogging.
(less the re-start in upper left corner)
The whole top portion was completely stitched

And here are the threads after I pulled them out

Last Saturday (20th) I attended my third open house at Knowledge and Needles.  Read about my first and second times if you wish.  It is amazing the friendships I have created over the past 3 years... and it all started with opening that car door ;)

I forgot to take my SLR, but did get a couple of pictures.  I couldnt' decide what I wanted to work on, so I took out the JBW angel I started last week.  I am glad I decided on that since I was up and down most of the day.  I did do some shopping... some thread and some fabric.

After most people had left, Dani and Christin were heading back with Kathy to her place.  Kathy invited me to come back with them and stitch some more if I wanted.  Of course I said yes!  While I was there, I had a.....
FINISH!!

It was a small finish, but still a finish in my books!!  Upon the finish Kathy handed me the finish pom-poms.  I had intended to take some cute pics of them, but later on in the night, Dani also had a finish on a RR she was working on.  I imediately handed them over to her.  Check out her blog later and she might post about them.  I wonder who will get these next??
JBW Angel
Not sure what I am going to do with it yet...

I also realized it has been a while since I have posted my WIPS.  While not all of them are here, these are the main ones I am working on besides Cirque des carreux.
Letter "L" for another stitcher. She is going to make these into a quilt.

Magnificent wizard - aslo known as Blair's stupid dragon
Lots of colour changes, but getting there

I also have made some new scissor fobs for birthday gifts this year.
For Christin

For Dani

For Kathy

I also made one for Rebecca after she informed me I should make one for her back in June.

Well, that is about all I think for tonight.  Hopefully I can get back into posting more!  Hope you all have a great Friday and a even better weekend!

Finally an update

What can I say.... the last 3 weeks have been crazy!
Little Peru took a lot of energy out of me, and then I had Retreat, and then I felt under the weather

PERU
My little budy keeps getting bigger.  I still stop in the store every other day and check in on him.
Cathie has been doing an amazing job with him ever since she got home from her Holiday.
He is now almost completely house trained - only one little accident since she got back
WAY TO GO PERU!!!
He is also getting better on bitting (Big yah lol)

RETREAT
2 weeks ago (Nov 12-13) I attended the Knowledge and Needles fall retreat.  This was my 2nd year at this retreat and loved every minute of it!
Friday afternoon I arrived early and was soon met by Beatrice .
Later on Dani and Rebecca and Ann herself arrived as well as others without blogs.
Friday night we ate some yummy food and stitched.  I can't remember exactly what time, but we were not up too late Friday night.
Saturday morning after breakfast, Dani and I went for a walk.  What a beautiful morning!
Morning walk - Brighton Ont
Corner of 64 and Barcovan Beach Road

I took my Iphone with my Nike + sensor on our walk - We almost did 5km!!

Nike + statistics

Saturday afternoon we went to Knowledge & Needles for Lunch and some stitching.
Lunch was amazing as usual
Chicken Parm, Rice, Butternut squash, brocolli

Blackforest Cake

After lunch I did some shopping at the store.  I got some Carrie's Creations threads, some fabric, and some JBW Designs patterns.

After we got back to the Timberhouse, we stitched some more.  Saturday night again wasn't too late of a night.

Sunday mornings are always bittersweet since they are they day we have to come back to reality.  After breakfast we did more stitching and then people starting leaving.  My hubby picked me up around 1pm.
All in all it was a great weekend

OTHER UPDATES
I am in the middle of studying for my first CGA Exam.  It will take place on December 1st.  I am starting to get very nervous.
Last weekend I was feeling really crappy and didnt' get much studying done.  Hubby and I basically watched TV all weekend and I did get some stitching done.  Maybe it was what I needed...
At retreat I started one of the JBW mittens.  After I got the one done, I decided to do the next on the same piece of fabric with a different over-dyed thread.  Then kept going.  This is how is ended

An update.... FINALLY

So Dani sent me a message on Windows Live message the other day......

"UR blog is sad and lonely, it needs an update"
Well, I had a big assignment due today, but now it is done, so I will try and make my blog less lonely. Ok so now I have to figure out what I have done in almost a whole month! So I decided to go to the photos on the computer for a reminder

Sept 25'10
This day was an open house for the foundation I am on the board for. We are trying to open for the 2012 celebrations. We received a heritage grant to help us do this! If you are interested in more info, please see our website.
Here is a picture of the limestone building that has been named "the barracks" by the community

Right beside where I work is the Ganaraska River in Port Hope, or the Ganny as it is called. In the spring and fall it becomes flooded with fish making their way back up stream to lay eggs. I have always felt that these fish have something against me, because whenever I am told they are running, I never see them. On the 7th, my co-worker Kim told me to get out there and take a look, but to go down stream a bit... WOW!!! am I ever glad I did!! Do you ever feel sorry for these poor fish... very hard work!

HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!!!

My hubby and I got tickets for opening night of the Ottawa Senators. They played the Buffalo Sabres, who we saw play in April. Well they did loose, but It was a really great time. This time we got cheap tickets, but I thought they were great since you could see the whole ice.
GO SENS GO!!!

After the game, we stayed over at Dani's house.

Oct 9'10

Today I joined Dani to her WW meeting (all about thanksgiving dinner). We then picked up the boys (Blair and Todd) and went for breakfast. Then while the Boys played video games, Dani and I got to do some stitching. We also took an hour and went for a really nice block around the area where she lives.

She got some great pics, but here is one that I took
Cow corn

That night we enjoyed amazing Lasagne al la Dani.

Oct 10'10
Today was an early morning as we were still in the Ottawa area, and needed to be home to work on my first BIG assignment for my CGA course. We also stopped in Kingston to get some groceries from Costco.

The assignment took pretty much all day and it was another late night - bed after 11:30
Edit - I got my marks back today (Oct 23rd) ...... 42/50 - Not too bad :)

HAPPY TURKEY DAY CANADA!!

I stayed in my PJ's most of the day and did some stitching. Around 1pm we started on our way to Oshawa for dinner at my mother in law's. We had to take a detour (crazy 401 traffic) but managed to get there only about 15 minutes late. I did get to enjoy some time with my niece and nephew, but didn't take any pictures.

Oct 15th-17th
Friday night I made my way to Rebecca's for her annual stitchy weekend. I arrived just after 7pm and got my area all set up. Dani and Christin arrived soon after.

Saturday was a nice relaxing day of stitching. We were also joined by Kathy, Beatrice, and Barb.
Not really a stitching pic, but I loved Beatrices socks!!

On Sunday, I left around 1pm and we drove to Brighton for an open house for Adriana, Beatrice's 94 year old mom. She is an amazing stitcher, and had no idea how much she has actually done. We all want to grow up to be just like her
