I seem to be the next one getting spammed with lots of spam anonymous comments
For now, I have turned this off as I would prefer not to have those horrible word verifications on.
If you are one of my good anonymous comments, sorry about this. Creating a google account to comment from is very easy though, if you need assistance, let me know :)

I moderate comments and don't allow anonymous. So far I don't have spam. No word verification needed. Hope those spammers go away!
I had to get rid of anonymous comments as well I was plagued during the summer with awful comments.
I was getting some really strange comments on my blog. I finally had to do comment moderation, but took that word verification thing off. It seems to have taken care of the problem.
